Top pick

Suno (Pro)

Generates full songs, with vocals or instrumental, from a text prompt on its v6 models. Pro adds commercial use rights, 20 song downloads a month and stem separation, so you can pull out an instrumental bed to sit under your voice.

Free: 50 credits/day, no song downloads, no commercial rights. Pro $8/mo on annual billing (Suno says this saves $24 a year compared with monthly), 2,500 credits/mo, 20 downloads/mo. Premier $24/mo on annual billing, 10,000 credits/mo, 60 downloads/mo.

Budget pick

ElevenLabs (Eleven Music)

If you already pay for ElevenLabs for voiceover, music comes out of the same credit pool. Eleven Music costs about 900 credits a minute, and commercial use of music is listed from Starter, so Starter's 30k credits would cover roughly 33 minutes of music if you spent them on nothing else.

Free 10k credits/mo (no commercial licence). Starter $6/mo, 30k credits/mo, includes music commercial use. Eleven Music ≈ 900 credits per minute.

Suno Free, for anything you'll publish

Suno's pricing page lists the Free plan with no commercial rights and no monthly song downloads. It's fine for sketching ideas, not for a monetised video or an ad. Even on paid plans, Suno points to its terms of service for limits on commercial use, so read them before you use a track in client work.

Test notes

Pending hands-on test

Pending hands-on test. Planned standard task: generate a 60-second lo-fi instrumental bed and a 15-second jingle with lyrics from identical prompts in each tool, then score prompt adherence, audible artefacts and how well the bed sits under speech. We'll record the credits used and the licence terms that apply on each plan.

Who this is for

YouTubers, podcasters and small businesses who need intro music, background beds or a jingle, and want to avoid copyright claims.
