AI voiceover for videos
Voice a video without a microphone session, or fix a flubbed line in your own cloned voice, with a commercial licence sorted.
Not hands-on tested yet. The picks below are based on vendor documentation and pricing we verified on 19 Oct 2026. Test results will appear here once we've run our standard task. We don't publish made-up test results.
ElevenLabs
A broad voice library and voice cloning: Instant Voice Cloning from Starter, Professional Voice Cloning from Creator. It also includes dubbing, and paid plans come with a commercial licence.

Descript (Hobbyist)
If you already edit in Descript, AI Speech with custom voice clones and regenerate is included. That's ideal for patching words in your own recordings without paying for a separate voice tool. Since Descript's 12 October 2026 release, AI Speech runs on ElevenLabs v4.

ElevenLabs Free, for monetised content
The Commercial License is listed as a Starter-plan feature and not part of Free. For anything monetised or client-facing, start at Starter.
The full stack
- Script: Your LLM of choice

Generate the narration, or clone your voice for consistency. - Edit and patch: Descript
Sync to the video, then fix individual words with AI Speech.
Test notes
Pending hands-on test
Pending hands-on test. Planned standard task: voice the same 150-word explainer script with a stock voice and a cloned voice, then do a blind listen for naturalness and pronunciation of tech terms (e.g. 'Supabase', 'LLM'), and record the credits used.
How to choose
- Voice is a core part of your content: ElevenLabs Starter or Creator.
- You mainly need to patch your own recordings: Descript’s built-in AI Speech may be enough.
